Making the Future Female

Why should this happen at all – people can make their own choices when old enough.

The Free

Jewish, Moslems and Christian demonstrated together today for the right to cut bits off little boys’ penises without  an anesthetic.

They condemned as barbaric the ruling that the religious mutilation must be done by a doctor with pain killers.

Several hundred people have held a demonstration in the German capital, Berlin, to demand that the practice of religious circumcision remain legal.

  1. Dear god. Religious freedom gives people the right to BELIEVE whatever they want, not the right to inflict pain or injury on /others/. Surely this is a no-brainer?????

    • Hello my friend – haven’t spoken for a bit – are you well? When’s the book blog being born? (nice alliteration eh?)
With regard to your comment, one would think religious folk would respect their children and let them make up their own minds about being circumcised, but it appears not to be the case. There are demos and claims of anti-semitism and Islamophobia all because a judge said the circumcision operation was too dangerous to be performed by rabbis and imans and should be done by surgeons in hospital. I suppose the so-called religions realise few will follow their folks and their numbers will dwindle.
Sad and so old-fashioned, but they do look back rather than forward.
Lovely to hear from you matey 🙂

      • I did a mad catch up today, just trying to see what everyone was up to. That’s what happens when you let yourself get distracted, even for just a few days. 🙂

As for this circumcision furore I’m shocked because I had no idea that it was done without anaesthetic. 2000 years ago they didn’t have anaesthetic so ok… maybe… but now? Excuse me. That’s just unconscionable.

      • And they say we’re attacking their religion – it’s a Bronze Age practice, but look how they treat women…
        I’m really glad you’re back commenting again – I’ve missed you 🙂

      • In fairness I think a great many of those women see nothing wrong with their way of life but … as an outsider and a women I can’t imagine living like that.

And thank you, it’s good to feel the pulse of the blogging community again. 🙂
